Coking project for B.P. Oil

Castellón de la Plana - Valencia

Back

Abantia has carried out the mechanical assembly of equipment and pipes for a delayed coking unit at the BP Oil plant in Castellón.

This installation is used to produce 750 million litres of diesel a year and 400,000 Tn of coke, eliminating the production of fuel oil.

Work involves the installation of 1,100 Tn of pipes with diameters comprising between 1/2’’ and 36’’, 2,800 isometric pipes from stainless carbon steel and alloys.

60 km of pipes have been assembled for steam piping alone.

  • Relevant aspects

The current project is being undertaken within the refinery itself, the surface ground area of this installation is 109 x 107 x 115 m. It was the wish of BP to implement an acceleration plan to reduce deadlines as much as possible. Both of these conditions -installations high above ground level and concentrated deadlines- led to complex organisational considerations on various fronts, with two or three workshifts and teams of 500 men.
